The Yurt
Yurt or more traditionally known as 'Gurt' takes its name from the traditional homes of the namads of Mongolia. These traditional homes do without the use of a central supporting pole. In Australia this basic design has been adapted by Goulburn Yurtworks to provide a wide range of studios, granny flats, play rooms, music rooms, weekenders, B&B's, artists retreats and even entire family homes suitable for the australian climate.
The yurt is designed so that the weight of the roof pushes down on the self supporting 360 degree walls, which are in turn stabilised by a tension cable. This design means the yurt has a very flexible open floor plan.
The yurt is designed around a circular space that has the ability to extend out with 'Annexes' which can be used as singular add ons or as multible add on s to create bedrooms, bathrooms open kitchens or to just extend the inetrnal open space of the yurt. The annexes or decks can be used all the way around the yurt to complete a continuity of space, you can even add other yurts to form a cluster of them joined by covered walkways or join double story or a single story to another yurt with a large connector........the design aspects of the yurt are so flexible that you are only limited by your own imagination!

We can sell the home owner builder simple frame only kits, or perhaps kits with some extras like iron roofing and roofing insulation and lining or we can sell them a fully insulated lined kit with windows and doors and all they have to do is erect them!! We also offer full assisstance with council if its required. From plan drafting to developemnt application to approvals.
